The lungs must be in good health for the body to operate as it should. If you quit smoking and using tobacco products but your lungs remain damaged, you need to realize that the food you are consuming is unhealthy. Other than tobacco and cigarettes, some foods have a direct impact on the lungs and have the potential to cause serious illnesses like lung cancer. Here are some foods that can harm your lungs.

1. Salty Foods

Consuming food high in salt may cause fluid retention, resulting in bloating and inflammation. The added strain on your lungs might make breathing more difficult. You may avoid extra salt by not adding it to your diet.

2. Sugary Drinks

In the summer, individuals frequently consume cold beverages or other cold items to relieve heat. Because of the heat, people start drinking it more. It cools the throat but also increases coughing and phlegm. People with asthma should especially avoid it.

3. Fried Food

Eating fried food from outside significantly raises the risk of developing lung cancer. They include carbohydrates, which produce carbon dioxide in the body and can also harm the lungs, thus fried food from outside should be avoided.

4. Processed Meats

If you have COPD or asthma, most doctors recommend that you avoid processed meats because the nitrates in deli meat might worsen symptoms. Other studies have shown a link between processed meat consumption and an increased risk of cancer, particularly lung cancer.
