10 K-pop idols got separated from their groups due to alleged scandals and controversies
After leaving well-known groups, idols like Wonho, Jay Park, BI, Dawn, and others began concentrating on their individual careers.
K-pop idols occasionally become embroiled in scandals, which may lead to them splitting up with their group. These idols frequently launch and succeed in their solo careers as well.
Garam
Garam was formerly a member of LE SSERAFIM, a fifth generation group. As the group’s sixth member, she debuted in 2022. She was kicked out of the group that same year after it became known that she had been bullied at school.
Soojin
The multi-talented idol Soojin was a member of (G)I-DLE. Soojin was forced to stop participating in 2021 due to claims that she had previously bullied students in the classroom. She left the group after the incident and subsequently canceled her contract with CUBE Entertainment. She made her solo performance debut in November 2023.
Jay Park
Jay Park made his debut as the leader of the popular group 2PM in 2008. His 2005 remarks about Korea on My Space were exposed in 2009; he had spoken negatively about South Korea there, which forced him to quit the group.
Wonho
In 2015, Wonho made his stage debut as a member of the popular boy band Monsta X. The idol’s life was going great until he started receiving accusations on social media about using marijuana illegally when he was younger. Though he tested negative and received widespread support from fans, the idol had to leave. In 2020, he started off with his solo career.
Dawn
Dawn, the team’s leader, joined PENTAGON in 2016 and made his debut.After dating since 2016, HyunA and DAWN announced their relationship to the world in 2018. However, CUBE Entertainment, their company, forbids its artists from dating one another. They made the decision to end their agreements with the agency.
Ilhoon
The lead rapper for the group BTOB was Ilhoon. Like the other members, he began his career in 2012. He tested positive for marijuana in 2020 and was charged with using it illegally. That’s why he had to depart from the group.
BI
In 2015, BI made his debut with the group iKON as their leader, producer, and rapper. As a member of iKON, he produced a number of songs, including Love Scenario, which rocketed their career. BI was forced to leave the group in 2019 because of drug-related accusations.
Jimin
Jimin was regarded as a gifted idol and skilled rapper. She belonged to the AOA girl group. When Mina, a group member, accused Jimin of bullying her and forcing her to quit the group, her reputation took a serious hit. Jimin left the entertainment business after this controversy.
Chuu
Chuu debuted as a member of the girl group Loona. The group is renowned for its stirring performances and ideas. Because of “violent language and misuse of power” toward the staff, Loona’s agency, BlockBerry Creative, announced her departure.
