Actor Ahn Se Ha has resigned from his public appearances in response to growing accusations of bullying case at school. Days before a much awaited musical performance, the scandal broke out, and it caused him to reschedule and cancel several public appearances.
Ahn Se Ha will temporarily stop performing in the musical A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, in which he is currently starring as D’Ysquith. The musical’s production company, SHOWNOTE, declared on September 12 that Ahn Se Ha’s involvement in the production will be put on hold in order to address the ongoing claims. After talking with his agency, Hunus Entertainment, they decided that it wouldn’t be suitable for him to perform any longer until the issue was resolved.
Thus, on a few dates, actors Jung Moon Sung and Jung Sang Hoon will substitute for Ahn Se Ha. Even though he is still scheduled to play on September 13, it is unclear if he will be participating in the October shows.
The actor’s scheduled ceremonial first pitch at the NC Dinos baseball game on September 15 is also a delayed. On September 11, NC Dinos issued a statement underlining that it would be improper to organize the event in the middle of the dispute.
The claims, made by a netizen posing as a former classmate, first appeared when Ahn Se Ha’s participation in public events was made public. They related stories of physical and verbal assault, accusing Ahn Se Ha of being a well-known school bully. Hunus Entertainment has vehemently denied these allegations, registering a formal police complaint and launching a defamation lawsuit in response.
In spite of these denials, more people have come forward to support the allegations that Ahn Se Ha bullied other students during his middle school years. This has stoked more controversy and placed his public persona and career under close examination.
