The makers of the upcoming action movie “Dacoit” announced on Friday that actor-director Anurag Kashyap has come on board. He will portray a courageous police officer.

Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur will star in lead roles, which is being shot concurrently in Telugu and Hindi. Recently featured in films like “Maharaja,” “Rifle Club,” “Leo,” and “Viduthalai Part 2” in the south, Kashyap will play Swamy, a fierce inspector who is an ardent Ayyappa devotee with no tolerance for corruption.

“The conundrums of duty versus dharma, and to go about doing his job with a dry sense of humor is fantastic. I am truly looking forward to playing this character in two languages, shooting in Hindi, as well as in Telugu.

“To get the same impact in both the languages is the challenging part, something I am thoroughly enjoying,” Kashyap stated.

The film’s creators claim that it tells the tale of an enraged prisoner who wants to exact revenge on his former girlfriend for betraying him.

“He devises a dangerous plan to trap her, setting the stage for an intense action drama driven by elemental forces – love, betrayal, and revenge,” the storyline stated.

“Dacoit” is presented by Annapurna Studios and is co-produced by Suniel Narang and Supriya Yarlagadda.
