Plot

The focus of How To Kill Your Family is on Anya Taylor-Joy’s character Grace Bernard. Grace is the daughter of Simon Artemis, a vicious and affluent billionaire. Grace experiences rejection from her father and his family, even though she is his illegitimate kid. Grace finds herself in a difficult predicament following the death of her mother.

Grace, furious at being betrayed, makes the dramatic decision to exact retribution. Grace makes the decision to wreak revenge on her father’s family member by member by employing inventive strategies. She is seeking justice through retaliation and hopes to transform her life with a sizable inheritance.

In this series, Anya Taylor-Joy, who dazzled everyone with her performance in The Queen’s Gambit, will be the main character. After reading the book, Taylor-Joy felt captivated to this job right away.

In conversation with  Tudum on August 21, 2024, she stated, “As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life. After some (light) stalking of the inimitable Bella Mackie, I could not be more thrilled to be collaborating with the team that is executive producers Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Emma.”

Bella Mackie, the author of the book shared her excitement with Tudum, “It’s been thrilling to watch the characters I wrote take on new life under this magnificent creative team.” She hailed Taylor-Joy as “the most perfect fit to play Grace.”

More about the makers and production unit

Eight episodes will make up the adaptation. The series is written and executive produced by Emma Moran, who is best known for developing and penning the 2024 Hulu comedy series Extraordinary. Executive producers Lee Morris, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Sally Woodward Gentle are also a part of the team. In addition, Taylor-Joy works as an executive producer via LadyKiller Productions Inc., her own firm.

Sally Woodward Gentle said in conversation with Tudum, “Emma Moran is a magical talent with a unique voice. The excitement is already palpable in the writers’ room as Anya, Lizzie, and the team explore Bella’s rip-roaring, take-no-prisoners, satirically pitch-black novel.”

As of now, Netflix has not announced an official release date for the series.
