Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shown their support for Kate Middleton, their estranged sister-in-law, following her cancer diagnosis. After addressing her health issues, the Duchess of Cambridge put a stop to rumours and speculation. An hour after Kate shared a video message on her and Prince William’s official social media accounts on March 22, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released an official statement.
The official statement that Harry and Meghan sent to NBC reads, “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.” Despite their long-standing disputes, it appears that the estranged in-laws are attempting to make peace in the wake of Kate’s illness.
PR expert Ryan McCormick thinks that despite being short, Harry and Meghan’s encouraging statement was respectful and supportive. In a statement to the Mirror he said, “The speed for which it came out is positive.”
He speculated that the royal feud may end soon, saying, “The gravity of this situation may be so large that it could melt away long-held grievances. Yes, Meghan and Harry have their faults but, family is family. Their feud could very well end immediately.”
