Actor Jung Hae In recently made an appearance alongside actor Hwang Jung Min on the KBS program AM Plaza to promote their film I, the Executioner. Both actors discussed in-depth the start of their acting careers during the show.

Although many people are aware that Jung’s first acting experience was in a school musical, there was one particular event that made him think seriously about acting as a vocation. Shortly after taking his college entrance exam, Jung Hae In was street-cast at a movie theater when he was still a student.

The actor acknowledged that he had little interest in acting at the moment, but said he ultimately began to ponder the dream.

Jung Hae In stated: “They asked if I wanted to try acting and handed me a business card. At the time, I wasn’t interested in acting and bragged about it to my mom. But later, things completely changed. I never thought about becoming an actor during school, and I assumed I would live an ordinary life like my peers. It feels like destiny”

He spent a month getting ready to join Pyeongtak University’s Theater and Film Department, and he eventually graduated with a major in acting. However, the actor disclosed that he discovered his friends were well ahead of him when he walked into the department.

He added, “I’m not sure what type of bravery I possessed, but I became aware that there were others who had been planning for this for a very long time. I came to the realization that school would be difficult unless I worked twice as hard.”

According to Jung, his parents were so taken aback by his abrupt change in profession that they gave him the quiet treatment for several weeks. In particular, his father opposed the idea. “They didn’t say anything for weeks. My mom was more open to discussing it, but my dad was very adamant.”

Needless to say, the decision to switch careers worked out extremely well in favor of Jung. The casting agent he had met years ago certainly had a commendable eye!
