On May 25, early in the morning, a shooting occurred in downtown Los Angeles in the 1200 block of Hope Street. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner reports that Wactor died from a gunshot wound to the chest and that homicide was the cause of death. Wactor died as he was making his way to his car with a female coworker. Grant, Wactor’s brother, has also stated that his brother was killed without cause.

“He did not confront them,” Grant stated. “He did not try to stop them. He was just trying to diffuse the situation by stepping back.” Grant also said that the suspects “weren’t expecting anybody to walk up on them, so they got scared. And there’s nothing more dangerous than a coward with a gun in his hand.”

To identify the killers, the LAPD is asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Central Bureau Homicide division of the department or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
