On Friday, August 23, 2024, The Frog will make its global premiere. It will have eight episodes. The mystery crime thriller series will be available on Netflix worldwide, where it will be added to the lineup of popular Korean dramas like Bloodhounds and Squid Game.
The Frog plot
In the mystery thriller The Frog, two pension owners’ lives are intertwined from various time periods. In the summer of 2000, Yoon Kye Sang plays Gu Sang Jun, and in the summer of 2021, Kim Yun Seok plays Jeon Young Ha, who manages a pension in a forest. Each man experiences similar events, and when he makes different decisions, unexpected things happen. This drama how different decisions can change one’s destiny.
Great ensemble
The cast of The Frog is amazing and includes some well-known actors from previous Netflix productions. Starring as Jeon Young Ha, Kim Yun Seok runs a lodge tucked away in the middle of a forest. When Yu Seong A (Go Min Si), an unexpected guest, shows up, his life drastically changes and a series of uncontrollable events begin.
Gu Sang Jun, the head of a family and proprietor of a lakeside motel, is portrayed by Yoon Kye Sang. Gu Sang Jun has lived a chaste and well-ordered life, but when an unexpected guest shows up and throws off his well-maintained existence, he could lose everything.
Yoon Kye Sang clarified that Gu Sang Jun, his character, experiences intense shock episodes that throw off his otherwise assiduous and affectionate life.
Go Min Si plays Yu Seong A, the unexpected visitor who upends Jeon Young Ha’s previously calm existence. Seong A’s once peaceful life is severely disturbed and upheaval due to his obsession with Young Ha’s lodge. Go Min Si commented that each time she read the script, a shiver went down her spine.
Yun Bo Min, played by Lee Jung Eun, is a local police chief and a former elite detective from the Violent Crimes Unit. Bo Min infuses her cases with a unique intuition that heightens the suspense and intrigue of the narrative.
