According to rumors, singer Mariah Carey neglected to get in touch with her sister Alison Carey while her condition was failing, which finally caused Alison to pass away. Speaking to the British tabloid The Sun, Alison’s close friend David Baker said that even after being put into hospice care, the singer never made an effort to get in touch with Alison in her final days.
“A phone call or, better still, a video call would have meant so much to Alison. But it never came,” Baker stated. The pal further claimed that this estrangement pained Alison a lot, and she reportedly voiced her unhappiness over her sister cutting contact with her. “She talked about it frequently. She wondered if Mariah or any of her relatives would come to her funeral,” he added.
The 55-year-old singer tragically lost her sister and mother, Patricia, on the same day over the weekend. She told PEOPLE magazine that she had been fortunate to spend the past several days with her mother and shared the news with them. She didn’t elaborate on anything more about her sister.
“I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she wrapped up. As of now, the cause of their death has not been established.
When Mariah Carey’s memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, was published in 2020, the siblings experienced a trying period. Alison and Morgan Carey, her siblings, sued the artist for defamation and purposeful infliction of mental distress as a result. Information concerning Carey’s close ties with her family was disclosed in the memoir. Despite their differences, she was able to keep a relationship with her mother.
