Rapper Fatman Scoop passes away at 53 after collapsing at his concert in Connecticut

The crowd at Town Center Park were energized to witness Scoop perform on social media before he collapsed and vanished from view.

According to CT Insider, who cited his tour manager, rapper Fatman Scoop passed away on Friday night at the age of 53 after fainting during his performance at a free concert in Connecticut at Hamden Town Center Park.

Isaac Freeman III aka Scoop, was from New York and was having a “medical emergency” during the “Green & Gold Party” in Hamden.

According to TMZ, authorities were called to the park at 8:33 p.m., even though his event was supposed to start at 7:15 p.m. Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett verified that he was transported to a local hospital.

“Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers,” Garrett posted on Facebook.

The rapper was originally scheduled to appear in July, but inclement weather forced to delay till August.

Scoop’s most famous song, “Be Faithful,” a 1990s club hit with millions of views, is also his most well-known creation. He appeared on Missy Elliott’s single “Lose Control,” which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, in October 2005.

In addition, he collaborated on tracks with Nick Cannon, Skrillex, Timberland and Magoo, and Mariah Carey on her Grammy-nominated single “It’s Like That.”

The official music video for “Let It Go,” a new song by Dyce Paso and Scoop, dropped on Friday morning.

Freeman’s tour manager, Pure Cold, a.k.a. DJ and producer Birch Michael, made the announcement of his death early on Saturday on Facebook and Instagram. “It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Issac Freeman III, professionally known as Fatman Scoop,” Michael added.

“I am honestly lost for words … you took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today.”
