Actor Rhea Chakraborty has made a comeback after facing charges over the death of her ex-boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor finally spilled the beans on how the incident and case have affected her family and the aftermath of the tragedy.
Rhea and Showik were held by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) pertaining to a drugs case investigation that supposedly was associated to Sushant’s death in the year 2020. The actor shared, “When we went through the tragedy that we went through, we both lost our careers. I stopped getting any acting work, and Showik, who had scored 96 percentile in CAT and secured admission into a prestigious university, was arrested before he could begin. By the time he came out, he had lost the first trimester—and with it, his MBA plans and future planning.”
“Getting a job for Showik afterwards in any corporate setup was very difficult. No one wanted to hire someone who had so much media scandal around them. For a while, we weren’t sure where our lives were going. Like, what’s next? We had our healing processes.”
Post the release, the siblings brainstormed into staring something of their own and rebuild their lives. They established Chapter 2 Drip, a clothing brand that strived to encourage people to tell their tales and be heard.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s body was found at his residence in Mumbai on 14 June 2020. In accordance with a complaint filed by his father, Rhea was accused with multiple charges including abetment to suicide. The series of investigations as led by the CBI, ED, and NCB. By May 2024, the CBI eventually filed a closure report, clearing the names of the former accused Rhea and Showik in the case.
