Travis Scott arrested in Florida; chain of events which led to past legal scuffle
Scott was involved in another legal dispute a little more than a month prior to his arrest in Paris.
American Rapper Travis Scott was taken into custody early on Friday morning in Paris following a fight with his bodyguard. He was attending the Olympics in Paris. The incident happened at the opulent George V hotel at approximately five in the morning local time (on Thursday, 11 p.m. ET). Police were sent to break up the fight, according to French officials, as reported by CNN.
Scott was later taken into custody on suspicion of “violence against another person,” a police spokesman said. It was later clarified by the Paris prosecutor’s office that Scott was detained specifically for “violence against a security guard.” The altercation between Scott and his bodyguard had been broken up by the security guard. An inquiry into the occurrence has commenced.
The rapper was taken into custody in Miami Beach on Thursday morning, June 20, and charged with disorderly intoxication and trespassing. Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was taken into custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 4:35 in the morning. He posted $150 bond for disorderly conduct and $500 bond for trespassing.
The Police affidavit states that Scott got into an altercation with officers after causing a disturbance on a yacht. Scott was yelling at the people inside the boat when police discovered him standing by the dock.
Scott was warned by Miami Beach Police Department Sergeant Lemus to get off the dock or risk being arrested. Scott obeyed, but he soon went back and started yelling again, upsetting everyone and disturbing the quiet. According to reports, Scott acknowledged drinking and responded, “It’s Miami,” when questioned about it.
The popular musician Travis Scott has over 100 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and four No. 1 hits. With Kardashian family member and well-known influencer Kylie Jenner, he has two kids. Scott has also sold about 49 million certified albums and received ten Grammy Award nominations.
