One of the most well-known cartoon characters in India and the rest of the world is Shinchan. When the show debuted in India in 2006 with Hindi dubbings on Hungama TV, it quickly gained a large fan base there. However, because of its offensive content, the show was banned in India in 2008. During an interview with The Motor Mouth YouTube channel, Aakash Ahuja, who plays Shinchan, discussed his experience working on the show and expressed his opinion that it is “lewd.”
Aakash stated, “I have seen Shinchan dancing naked and I have dubbed that too. Because they would say that you dub this, then we’ll see. He would sing lines like ‘haathi, mera pyara haathi’ and it was so lewd. Even adults shouldn’t watch it, it was so dirty. They would censor it all later.”
He added, “There used to be a line on the show ‘Bachhe churane vali moti budhiya (fat woman who steals babies),’ that was the line. After the case was filed… by then we had done around 150-200 episodes, I was called and all those lines were changed otherwise Shinchan would never be put on air. We changed all those lines so it could go on TV.”
Aakash went on to say that pressure to perform well on his board examinations and vocal strain were the reasons he departed the show’s dubbing cast. The voice he could perform at age 10 he could not do at age 15, he revealed, because his voice changed with age.
The escapades of 5-year-old Shinnosuke Nohara, a naughty kindergarten student who frequently causes trouble for his family and friends is described per episode in this show.
