Tennis star Aryna Sabalenka’s boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov died in ‘apparent suicide’, police say

The Belarusian Hockey Federation revealed on Tuesday that Konstantin Koltsov, a former ice hockey player, has died at the age of 42. Koltsov, who was in a relationship with two-time tennis Grand Slam winner Aryna Sabalenka, died in Florida, according to the local police. Koltsov was an assistant coach for Salavat Yulaev Ufa. He has coached Salavat Yulaev for the past two seasons, and the former Belarusian hockey player has also been hired as an assistant coach for Belarus’ national men’s team.

According to the latest reports, the unfortunate death of former NHL ice hockey player Koltsov is being investigated as an apparent suicide. On Tuesday, Miami-Dade Police stated that the former professional ice hockey player died in a ‘apparent suicide’. According to one news source, local police responded to a complaint on Monday about a guy falling over a balcony at a Miami resort.

As per Reuters, the Miami Dade police department said, “At approximately 12:39 a.m., Bal Harbour Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, 9703 Collins Avenue, in reference to a male that jumped from a balcony.”

The report further added that no foul play is suspected, and the investigation has been taken over by the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Bureau.

Later this week, Sabalenka, a two-time Grand Slam winner, will play in the Miami Open. While there was no immediate indication of Sabalenka’s intention to compete or not, rumours from the media indicated that the World No. 2 will not be withdrawing from the tournament, which is set to begin on Tuesday.
