Agneyastra Energetics Limited has initiated the development of a major strategic defence manufacturing facility near Madakasira in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai District.
The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited—the defence arm of Bharat Forge—plans to invest ₹1,500 crore in the integrated campus over the next few years.
Spread across more than 1,000 acres, the facility will focus on strengthening India’s indigenous manufacturing capabilities in advanced energetics and ammunition systems used in modern defence and aerospace sectors.
The project will include advanced manufacturing technologies, specialised logistics capabilities, and testing infrastructure designed around stringent safety requirements.
Agneyastra Energetics said the facility is expected to generate around 800 direct jobs and approximately 2,500 indirect employment opportunities, while contributing to Andhra Pradesh’s emergence as a defence and aerospace manufacturing destination.
The company has been established with the objective of reducing India’s reliance on imported energetics materials through domestically designed and manufactured solutions that comply with global standards.
Mr. Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge Limited, said: “India has a significant opportunity to emerge as a globally trusted source for advanced defence systems and critical materials. Agneyastra Energetics is a strategic step towards building a strong indigenous energetics ecosystem and globally competitive capabilities from India for both domestic and international markets.”
The company added that it aims to contribute to India’s long-term defence self-reliance goals and the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
